A calcium aluminium silicate mineral, prehnite is named after its discoverer Colonel Hendrik Von Prehn. Von Prehn found the first of these gems in South Africa, in 1788. 

Prehnite is considered a "stone of dreaming"; it is believed to increase the power of the dream state, strengthen lucid dreaming and promote communication with other planes of existence. It is also considered a "stone of prophecy," with long use by indigenous peoples of South Africa.

The prehnite crystal is also known as a stone of magic and allegedly helps those around it to uplift their vibration and bring forth a sense of abundance and preparedness. 

Some people believe that this crystal contains an energy that can enhance intuition and even give the gift of prophecy. Because of its pleasant green shade, prehnite brings to mind the natural world and all its beauty.
